- Shami kabab
- 500 g chicken
- 1 cup split gram lentil(washed n soaked for an hour)
- 1 potato
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 7,8 black pepper corn
- 7,8 cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 tsp coriander
- 1 tsp ajwaien
- 3 red chilies whole
- As per taste salt
- 1 onion
- 1 whole garlic bulb(peeled)
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- As required oil
- 2,3 green chilies
- As required water
- 2 eggs
- For karahi
- 4 onions sliced
- 2,3 tomatoes chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 4 tbsp thick yogurt
- 4 tbsp full fat cream
- As per taste salt
- 1 tbsp achari masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
- Green chilies for garnishing
- 1 onion rings
Instructions to make to make Shami kabab karahi
- In a pressure cooker heat oil and add ginger,garlic,onion add cumin seeds, cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon, coriander seeds, ajwain, red chilli and chilli flakes. Saute for 1-2 minutes.
Now add the soaked chana dal and mix thoroughly.add chicken,potato n salt.Bring to simmer, adding required quantity of water.
Cook until all the water has evaporated and chicken is tendered.
- Let it cool down remove the bones (if used chicken with bones)than grind well. Add in beaten eggs n chopped green chilies.mix it well..
Shape it as per your choice..(usually shami kabab are in circular shape but for karahi I shaped in oval) fry them in heated oil n set them aside..

- Add oil in wok(karahi) n let it heat.than add sliced onions saute till translucent than add ginger garlic n saute again... further add chopped tomatoes n cover it with a lid n cook till soften....

- Add in yogurt n mix well cook till oil separates than add 2tbsp of cream n mix well than add shami kababs. N cook it on low flame..



- Now add remaining cream,chopped green chilies, onion rings..(cover n put in on dum for 2 minutes..
Serve it with chapati,naan or roti..
