  1. 150 ml thick curd (little sour)

  3. 1 dash hing
  4. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  5. 1/4 tsp dry ginger powder
  6. 1 tsp besan

  8. 6-8 fresh okra (bhindi) (chopped into long pieces)

  15. 5-6 cloves garlic (pounded)
  16. 2-3 dry red chilies

  19. For making rice
  20. 1 cup rice (washed and soaked)
  21. 2.5 cups water
  22. to taste Salt

Instructions to make to make Bhindi kadi and chawal

  1. In a blender jar, take curd, add water, salt, dry ginger powder, hing and besan.
    Blend and keep aside.
  2. Next wash okra and wipe it dry. Cut into pieces.
    Next heat a kadhai with oil.
    Put okra pieces, salt and turmeric powder. Mix. Cook till okra softens and looses it's rawness.
    Keep aside.
  3. Next in the kadhai, heat oil.
    Splutter panch phoron, add pounded garlic, dry red chilies and curry leaves. Saute till garlic turns brownish.
  4. Add turmeric powder. Mix.
    Keep the flame very slow and add the blended curd mixture. Immediately put some normal water and adjust consistency.
    Then allow it to boil.
  5. Stir continuously.
  6. As it thickens and comes to boil, add the fried okra.
    Switch the flame off.
    Let the kadi settle down a bit then serve.
    It is very easy to make... delicious to eat.
    You can include other vegetables like radish in it..it too tastes nice.
  7. Serve bhindi kadi with hot rice... enjoy!!
  8. For making rice
    Boil water, add raw rice and salt into it and cook in medium heat till the grain have plumped up nicely.
    Cover and keep aside.
