- 1/3 cup tuvar daal
- 1/3 cup udad daal
- 1/3 cup moong daal
- 1 cup rice
- 1/3 cup curd
- 1 cup grated bottle guard
- To taste salt
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp green chilli paate
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 4 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp dhaniya jeera powder
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 3-4 dry red chillies
- 2 tsp jeggery
- 1 tsp cooking soda
- 1 tbsp wheat chokar
- Pinch hing
Instructions to make to make Handvo
- Soak the daal and rice in sufficient water for at least 8 hours. Then remove the water and transfer it to a mixer jar. Grind it to a idli batter like consistency.
- Now add curd to it and whisk. Keep it for fermentation for next 7-8 hours.
- Add wheat chokar, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder dhaniya jeera powder, jeggery, ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste to it and mix well so that all masalas combined well.
- Take oil in a pan. Add Fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and sesame seeds and let it splutter. Add hing.
- Now add a laddlefull batter to it. Cover the pan and let it cook. Once it is crisp from one side turnover and let it get cooked from other side too.
- Crispy handvo is ready to serve. Enjoy it with your tea or have it in a dinner. You will surely like it.
